Dawn Yun, freelance writer and founder of the Writing Mamas Salon at Book Passage in Corte Madera, California, started her group in 2004 initially as a writing class just for mothers. Her popular classes soon morphed into The Writing Mamas Salon. Some of the mothers have been published and many have not but all share a love of the written word.
Dawn's story about the success of Writing Mamas was recently published in the February 2008 edition of Costco Connections magazine. Through Dawn's encouragement and support, Austin and many other cities throughout the country are starting their own local chapters.
Perhaps you have always wanted to try your hand at writing or maybe you have been in the business but got out to raise a family. Whatever your experience, whatever your motivation, we will provide a fun and encouraging place to find your voice and share some of the precious moments that make your life special.
We gather together to write, share our stories, and get feedback from our members. We plan to ask local writers, journalists, agents, and publishers to speak and give us valuable insight into the literary world.
Diane LeBleu, Editor-in Chief of the Writing Mamas Salon of Austin, is mother to four children and has lived in northwest Austin since 2000.
